Launch – Press release
Rainbow magic comes to Cape Town
On a windy and unseasonably cool Thursday night the hottest new festival blew into Cape Town when the Rainbow Festival was launched to wide approval at a packed Beefcakes in Green Point. It was a double celebration with both the opening of Beefcakes and the launch of the Rainbow Festival.
The crowd was entertained with the introduction of the most camp version of the characters from The Wizard of Oz - 2009 style. Then it was the turn of Lou Chase to croon her way through some great songs and sexy moves that had the audience shouting for more
The Rainbow Festival - with the Wizard of Oz as its theme - is a first of its kind for the Mother City and will run for five days from the 16 to 20 December. It’s packed with a host of sassy and sexy events starting with the Off to Emerald City Carnival and Circuit Party. Included in the programme is a bus tour to Tulbagh and all day party at Shisa Guest Farm. And, especially for the ladies there is a Party Bus tour through the city.
The Seaquined Slipper Cruise will take guests out on the bay and ends with a fabulous dinner. To close the festival, a day of gay sport and fun will be held at Oudekraal to say Farewell to Dorothy.
Judging by the reaction this Festival promises to put the Mother City back on the top of gay holiday destinations for both local and international tourists as well as breathing new life into Gay Cape Town. The magic has finally arrived from somewhere over the rainbow.

Pink Tongue – Press release
October 2009: The Cape Town Pink Season has just got a whole lot hotter with the launch of a brand new event that is set to take the Mother City by storm and thereby reclaiming the title of Africa’s Pink Capital. This new event, aptly called the ‘Rainbow Festival’, will launch just as the season really begins to sizzle on December 16 and will run to 20 December.
This event is planned along similar lines such as global events like the wildly successful Sydney Mardi Gras and will provide the entire gay and lesbian community with a street carnival, a mammoth circuit party, sunset cruises, bus and wine tours and ends with a closing party at Oudekraal.
The recently launched Pink Box, which is a full service marketing, PR and events company, are the organizers behind this new Festival and are planning to make this an annual event that will bring in tourists from all over the country and internationally.
